We had a lot of trouble of trouble creating our product box, but we did it! We made it out of recyclable boxes and some duck tape, it was very difficult pasting the tape the litter kept pouring out creating a huge mess! But after we had finally created the box, we were done and ready to move on with the checklist, we only got to figure some of it out though.

Tomorrow we are going to rehearse on what we are going to talk about in exhibition. We have our product and poster so I think we are going to add a small display on what we used for the project. Its just small touch-ups that we have to look over and carefully point out the details that would make our display much more interesting.

We finally finished our product! We grind the kennel corn into tiny bits with a blender and added the deodorizer. It actually looks like a yellow litter, which is what we were shooting for! Jovanee already has the cover of the product, he added a price tag and made it look like an actual litter product. We are very excited for this project, we also printed all of the pictures necessary and created a small sketch of what the poster board should look like. Everything is coming out in time and its going to be a project that is neat and organized.

What we will focus on tomorrow, is creating the box in which we are going to put in the litter. After this is done we will start working on our speeches for exhibition night and looking over the checklist for the project requirements. We won't have a lot to do since we have our project and product done all we will need to do is checklist and speeches.

After taking many opinions on our materials, including Isaac's, we decided the materials that we had in mind would not work for our project. We then decided to use kennel corn instead of cold corn, kennel corn would not spoil or get really messy. We still decided to keep the deodorizer because it would help the "litter", maintain a good odor. We also began to crush the kennel corn into dust to make it easier to fit into the advertising box. We didn't finish crushing the kennel corn, it will be a weekend job, this way we can have it done on Monday and ready to be mixed with the deodorizer.

Tomorrow I will finish crushing the kennel corn, while Jovanee develops the images that he took on Friday, this will be placed on our poster. We are keeping track of what we are doing, we have due dates on when the product has to be done and when the checklist and poster also have to be finished. We are keeping track and maintaining all of the due dates.

We were looking at our "litter" and I'm starting to have second thoughts of what we might actually use to create it. I was talking to my partner about how I though the coldness of the "litter" may not be so convenient, we aren't sure whether we could actually freeze the materials for such a long time and still be able to use it. Jovanee then said that the corn may get spoiled, so we practically spend the time researching ways in which we could keep the corn without spoiling. We will still be able to proceed and be able to have the product due on the due date, but we don't want to rush the project, this is why we are talking care of the materials one by one and making sure the won't get ruined in the process.

After looking at the materials that are possible for our project, we will probably ask for others opinions and see what their reaction to our advertising logos is. We will probably be ready to start with new materials and probably work on our product from the beginning. Since our idea is not very complex we will mainly focus on adverting our product, we will a simple idea, but we will make sure the idea is clear and has visuals to explain what we are trying to say.

Today Jovanne brought the second material that we needed, pet deodorizer. We were thinking of a way in which we could use the corn and the pet deodorize as a "Eco-friendly litter." We had the idea and the materials needed to create it, we just had no idea how to combine the materials in a way that could work. After a while Jovanee decided to freeze the corn, and I decided to create a ice form of the deodorizer. We then decided to mix the frozen corn with the frozen deodorizer, we would had a cold for of litter. Hopefully this idea can work!

Tomorrow we will check our "Eco-friendly litter" to see what the results are. After looking at the results we will discuss whether or not the idea will work. My partner and I were discussing today what ways we should advertise our litter and who it may be convenient today, we will probably discuss how the cover of the litter will look like and what we will put on display to grab the attention of the people looking at our poster.

What my partner and I did today, was buy our materials for our product. We were sharing ideas on what we could use for our project, and then we finally decided, to use corn. We then came up with a small schedule to decide when to bring in the rest of the materials. My partner is also going to buy a poster, since we need a visual for exhibition, we talked about what we could include in the poster. But we know the poster will probably change in the future of the project.

If all goes as planned we will have all of our materials ready to go, we will also have the poster to work on. We will probably work on the checklist, we are almost done with our product and advertising, so we will probably be able to complete the checklist as needed. I think once we have the product and the checklist, it will be very easy for us to start creating our visual, our poster.

My partner didn't go to school today, and we were unable to keep in contact, so I tried to do what we had planned the day before. What I decided to do was to create the logos that we had planned the day before and think of anti-odor chemicals that we could use for our product. I planned to type down all of the resesearch I had found and send all of the logos I had created to my partner. I also tried to get feedback on my ideas.

Well, tomorrow is the weekened, so I'm going to catch up with my partner in what I did for today, and I'll discuss his ideas. I think we will also be planning when to bring in the materials for our product and which materials we will be using.

Today my partner and I created our organization list, we gathered each others ideas, and decide which ones were good and which ones had to go. We typed out; the names we had for the product, what kind of people we would be advertising our product to and what our product would be made up of(we have the idea we just need the materials that are going to make the product). We didn't have time to create any of the logos or pictures we had in mind.

Tomorrow my partner and I will start to talk about the logos and how we will be advertising our product. Our idea is very small and not very complex, that's why my partner and I are focusing more on how we will deliver this product to the people, than the actual product. Hopefully we'll be able to talk about when we are going to bring the materials for the product.

I didn't go to school this day, but I still kept in contact with my partner through the phone, we discussed what we would be doing at that time. What each of us did, was look for anti-odor chemicals that we could use in our product. Jovanee gave me all the names for the chemical that he found, that would be helpful, what I did to make this process much faster, I looked all of the given names in the Internet and decided if we would be able to use them for our project. I think we did a very good team work, we didn't waste any time and even though I was not there, my partner and I did equal and fair work.

What we are going to do tomorrow, is write up all of the information we have found and revise what will be helpful and what still needs to be researched. Since our project, is more based on the advertising side, we will also begin to create our logos and "catching eye pictures", for our product.

What I accomplished today was coming together with my partner and disscusing our materials. This was a very important step for us since we didn't really get our project together, until friday, today we got all of our questions answered and our materials set. We now know what we are going to use for our project and what we can do to make our idea more complex.

For tomorrow we are going to work on looking for anti-odor, that will not harm our product or the animals using it. My partner will focus on the research of the addition materials we will use in our product and I will revise our main idea and add to our research.

My exhibition night was good, I didn't picture exhibition night been like it was last night, I thought there was going to be less people. My group strengths were that we, explained our whole process to our project. Our group weaknesses were we froze when we saw many people gathering around us. The most challenging interaction we had was when we didn't know one of the questions they asked us, we handled the situation by explaining other things related to the question, and we finally explained the answer to the question. One thing we would do differently next time is we would practice with big groups, so we can get use to having many people around us.

It was a bright sunny day in South Africa in a small hospital. The cries of the new born had awakened others and there in the doctor’s hands lay young Dumaka Zina. Dumaka’s family was waiting anxiously for the arrival of the new baby, his soon to be older sister was crying to see the new born and the father was walking around in circles. As the baby was cleaned and put to rest there was some bad news for the rest of the family. The doctor walked to the family and calmed them down “your wife has passed away.” The family stood in shock the father was blank he didn’t listen any longer his mind was filling its self with his wife. The doctor continued “my nurses and I took some blood test and the results were she was HIV positive, this birth just made your wife weaker, and not only did your wife have this disease, but she just gave the new born this disease too.” The family to this point had cried their last tears, suddenly the dad runs to through the hospital door living his aroma behind. This was the last day the dad was ever see people said that he had moved far away others said that he had killed himself. No matter what the situation was the truth was that he had left his two children behind, he had left them alone struggling with life. Dumaka and sister Dalil had to face life alone.

Character Bio

Dumaka Zina was born in 1990, on March 18 which makes him a Pisces. He was born with AIDS it has been in his family for generations. He is very sweet, gets mad very rarely. He is the youngest out of his older sister. His mother died giving birth to Dumaka. His father left the kids alone after knowing his wife had passed away. He doesn’t know his family back ground. Dumaka loves to help people in need he uses is talent of singing to comfort the sick. He doesn’t get paid very much for working in the clinics. His biggest struggle is his education, because he is not smart, but he would like to become doctor some day.

His favorite food is Geel Rys with a pineapple smoothie on the side. His favorite animals are cats and dogs, but he likes all of the animals. He is not really into clothing; he just puts on what ever he wants to wear. His favorite hobbies are helping those that are sick or in need and he also loves to hang-out with his older sister and his friends.

He loves romantic movies, books and most of all music, Dumaka love to listen to romantic music. His favorite possessions are pictures of his friends and of his sister, but he treasures his mother’s pictures the most. His favorite hang out spot are at the hospitals and at the clinics. Dumaka love to exercise his favorite is running, but the exercises are very hard for him like the sit-ups and push-ups.

The only reason he is really motivated for becoming a doctor is all the sick people that are in the hospital. His worst enemy is Senwe Siko, because ever since they were little kids they always hated each other the all was got into fights and they still don’t get along to this day. Senwe always gets him stress so Dumaka starts to punch and kick everything in his way.

Dalil Zina is Dumaka older sister; she is also his only sibling. She is the opposite from her bother and she was very lucky that she was not born with AIDS. She is only two years older than him she is afraid of getting AIDS like her brother, but deep inside she wants to help him get cured. Dumaka is healthier because of her. She puts in money to help her brother and she is slowly helping her brother as much as she can.

Senwe Siko is the same age as Dumaka, but he is Dumaka enemy. He steals his money and his food making Dumaka weaker of health. He has always hated Dumaka and Dumaka has always hated Senwe.

This book talks about a girl named Marjane. This young girl is living in the time period in which the Islamic Revolution was took place. In this book she talks about how her life changed during the Islamic Revolution. The Islamic Revolution took place in the year 1979, it was a civil war.

Marjane was not sure what to think about the veil since she was religious, but she still had mix feelings about the veil. Marjane had always kept in mind that she was going to be the last prophet. When Marjane’s parents were called in by her teacher she acted decadent when she said that she wanted to be a prophet.

Marjane was tired of the revolution; she had to do something about it. She protested in her garden with a couple of her friends. While she protested in her garden her parents protested against the guards. Where all sorts of violence was seen. Rocks throw towards the guards, and bullets shot at the victims.

Therefore; the revolution went on and Marjane was about to receive a dream shattering news. They occupied the U.S embassy, which meant no more visas. Not having a visa meant not being able to travel; Marjane’s dream of going to the U.S.A had turned in to ashes. Then worst news arrived, they were going to close down universities, Marjane wouldn’t be able to study chemistry. Unlike others Marjane’s families were not martyr they were afraid of being forced to wear veils, and exchanged their car for a camel.

These were just the beginnings, of there troubles during the Revolutionary War. Their loved ones died. There food supply used to be reservoir, and now they didn’t even bother getting a cart. At one time they almost got bombed. But, the bomb hit their neighbors. Marjane and her family stuck together, and tried to over come these tragedies.

At the end of this book, Marjane and her family end up seaperating. Marjane is about to flee to Vienna. More questions come to your head. Marjane’s family and she stayed together though times. Would they be able to over come more tragedies on their way? Would they have to overcome problems on their own? Will this family ever reunite again? If I were to write the second book I would probably give Marjane and her family more time alone. I would do this because Marjane needs to get older and meet new people. I would reunite the family towards the ending of this book. As the war is coming to an end, this family had experienced many tragedies they should be able be together. It just makes you wonder what is going to happen next.
